Yesterday I attended a seminor held by The Tama Shinkin Bank, titled “インターネットの動向と市場トレンドを把握した戦略的Web活用” (meaning “strategic use of Web understanding the trend of Internet and market).
As introduced in the seminor, recently the quality of translation app has been improved. “Google Translation” by Google and “はなして翻訳” by docomo are the example of these apps.
For these apps, voice recognition is an essential technology and the improvement of this technology improves the quality of translation apps. In addition, as many people use these apps, the data will be stored and the translation quality will be improved.
Research about speech information processing like language and voice recognition is conducted in Department of Media Science, Graduate School of Information Science, Nagoya University. If you are intersted in this research, please reed the theses.
