Systems Development Corporation in Tachikawa, Tokyo CONPHIC Co., Ltd.

Thank you for visiting our blog.

CONPHIC Co., Ltd. provides systems and various tools for legislation.
There are clear definitions about how to use the terms of laws and ordinances.
I introduced how to use “及び” and “並びに” in this blog before. Today I introduce “又は” and “若しくは”.

“法制執務提要” indicates about how to use them like the following:

When there are more than two parallel words and you make a group with “or” in Japanese sentences, you should use “又は”. In this case, you should connect other words than the last word with comma. If there are different level of groups of words, you should use “又は” between the largest groups and “若しくは” to connect the words and the smaller groups, that is, only the biggest groups are connected “又は” and “若しくは” (and comma) is repeatedly used to connect other smaller groups and words.

This is the similar usage to how to use “及び” and “並びに”, so you can easily read law documents once you remember how to use them.
CONPHIC Co., Ltd. provides a term check tool and a legislation system.
These can be used not only for laws and ordinances but also for other documents. Please contact CONPHIC Co., Ltd.
