As the example of the difficulty of Japanese, there is the following sentece:
・ここではきものをぬいでください。
This sentence does not have any punctuation mark, so you can understand it in two ways;
・ここで 履物を 脱いでください。
(this means “please take your shoes off here.”)
・ここでは 着物を 脱いでください。
(this means “please take your clothes off in this area.”)
These two sentences have the same pronunciation but very different meanings.
This is known as “Ginatayomi,” which is a play on words in Japan from time immemorial.
